WE WILL NOT BE HOSTING INTERNS OR WWOOFERS FOR THE 2017 SEASON.
Each season, we have space on our farm for up to two self-motivated, hard-working individuals. No prior farming experience is required but we expect a willingness to embrace all aspects of this farming endeavor with a positive attitude. Interns will have the opportunity to witness and learn firsthand the inner workings of a small family farm as well as homesteading basics. As an intern on Bugtussle Farm, you will have exposure to all aspects of growing a vegetable garden: from making potting mix to seed starting and greenhouse care; from planting to cultivating; from harvesting to food processing and storage. You will also have the opportunity to learn rotational intensive grazing techniques and pasture management with our small flerd of cattle, sheep, chickens, geese and sometimes pigs and turkeys. Hand-milking our dairy cows, sheep shearing, fiber processing, natural dyeing, beekeeping, sustainable energy systems, basic construction, marketing, and permaculture, organic, and biodynamic farming practices will also be available to the Bugtussle Farm intern.
Over 50% of our previous interns have gone on to run their own farming operations to one extent or another. Prior intern references available upon your request.
